Privacy policy for Mopsos
This policy describes data processing by the Mopsos Android app and the handling of enquiries about the app.
1. Controller and privacy contact

Germany
Email: thomas@bornhaupt.de
You can use this contact for privacy questions and requests concerning your personal data.
2. Calculations and local storage
Mopsos processes coordinates, numbers, text, keys and scripts you enter on your device to run the tools you choose. These contents are not sent to a server operated by the app provider for this purpose. There is no Mopsos user account or automatic synchronization with a Mopsos cloud.
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Selected language | Displaying the app in your chosen language, including after restarting. | Until you change it or clear the app’s data. |
| Text, alphabets and other Alpha and Caesar settings | Restoring saved tool input and settings. | Until overwritten or you clear the app’s data. |
| Input and results in the other tool dialogs | Performing and displaying the requested calculation. | In memory while in use; these dialogs do not save them permanently. |
On Android, settings files are stored in the app’s private storage. Mopsos does not additionally encrypt these files. The app provides no remote access for the provider to these local files.
You are not required to enter personal information. A tool cannot perform its calculation without the input it needs.
3. No advertising or usage analytics
Mopsos uses no active advertising or usage analytics. The app does not create advertising profiles. Included runtime and helper libraries support app functions; no separate advertising, analytics or crash-reporting service has been set up.
4. Clipboard
When you use a copy button, Mopsos sends the relevant text to the system clipboard. Access, retention and any clipboard synchronization depend on Android, your keyboard and any other services you use. Clearing Mopsos app data does not automatically remove previously copied contents.
5. External maps and websites
Map links are generated locally. Only when you select Open external map is the entered coordinate and, depending on your selection, a zoom level or route destination passed to a browser or suitable external app. Available map providers are OpenStreetMap, Google Maps and Geocaching.
When you open these services, their providers may process the coordinate, requested page, your IP address, browser or device data, and information from an account signed in there. Their privacy policies apply:
- OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy
- Google privacy policy
- Geocaching / Groundspeak privacy policy
Depending on the provider, processing may also take place outside the European Economic Area. Information about recipients, retention and transfers is available in the linked policies. Mopsos does not set retention periods for these independent services.
Help and privacy links also open external websites only when you select them. Some older help links use unencrypted HTTP. Browser history, external accounts and data stored by those services cannot be deleted through Mopsos.
6. Permissions and platform services
The app does not retrieve your GPS location or access the camera, microphone or contacts. You enter coordinates yourself. The app has internet permission; its calculations and the privacy and license notices work offline.
Android, your keyboard, browser, map app and, where applicable, Google Play may process data as part of their own services according to their settings and privacy policies.
7. Retention and deletion
Local retention is described in the table in section 2. You can remove saved Mopsos data in Android settings under Apps → Mopsos → Storage → Clear data. This also removes your language selection and saved tool settings. Uninstalling removes the app’s private storage; copies you created, data held by other apps and device backups must be considered separately.
Because Mopsos has no user accounts of its own, there is no Mopsos account requiring additional server-side deletion. For requests concerning data you have sent to the provider, for example by email, use the contact above.
8. Contact enquiries
If you contact the provider by email, your sender address, message and any information or files you choose to attach are processed to handle your enquiry. Email is transmitted and stored through the email service providers used for the mailbox. The app does not send such messages or attachments automatically.
Enquiry data is deleted when the enquiry has been handled, unless statutory retention obligations or necessary retention to establish, exercise or defend legal claims prevent deletion. Contacting the provider does not automatically make purely local app input accessible to them.
9. Purposes and legal bases
Where personal data is involved, local processing serves to provide the app functions and settings you request under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Enquiries about providing the app or pre-contractual matters are also handled under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Other enquiries are handled under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is responding to incoming enquiries and communicating with the person making the request. Legally required retention is based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
There is no automated decision-making producing legal or similarly significant effects within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR, or corresponding profiling.
10. Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. Any consent given may be withdrawn with effect for the future.
To exercise your rights, contact thomas@bornhaupt.de. The app provides no remote access for the provider to contents stored only on your device; you can remove them yourself as described in section 7.
You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the place of your habitual residence, place of work or alleged infringement. Information about the supervisory authority in Rhineland-Palatinate is available at datenschutz.rlp.de.
11. Scope regarding the website
This policy concerns the Android app and enquiries about the app. When you access this page, your browser sends technical connection data to the web server. The separate processing involved in operating the website, particularly server logs, is described in the website privacy policy (German).
The content of this app privacy page contains no analytics functions, forms or cookies and does not load external fonts or images.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when app functions or data processing change. The date above identifies the current version.
